What Dreams Are Made Of
“My goal is to empower people to not only dream, but to approach dreams in ways that are more realistic”
Kyle shares details here of the session he ran “What Dreams Are Made Of” at the Free To Be Me Retreat 2025 in Toronto, Canada.
Kyle started the session by encouraging participants to think through something that they have already accomplished in their life, such as a new job, further education, supporting a family or winning awards. Kyle then asked them to walk through the steps of how they achieved that dream. Specifically:
• What was the dream?
• Why was it important to you?
• What were the barriers you faced along the way?
• Where did those barriers come from?
• How did you get past them and achieve your dream?
By working through these questions, participants were able to realize that they have achieved huge things even though it was likely not easy or straightforward to achieve, which is an important reflection.
The same is with food allergy dreams, but often we don’t even start because they seem too dangerous or anxiety provoking.
Everyone then took this model, and applied it to a food allergy dream. Whether it was advocating better, traveling more confidently or communicating more clearly. Many people pushed themselves to put a new dream out there, and then dissect the road to get to it. There was so much social sharing of the steps.
Kyle says: “My biggest takeaway from the session is that you should embrace getting help and support from others when approaching your dreams. No one can climb a mountain alone. Whether it be a guide, the right shoes or a map. It’s okay to have help and go step by step.”
