Major App Update
Meet the Rebuilt Equal Eats App
We’ve rebuilt the Equal Eats app from the ground up.
This update isn’t just a fresh coat of paint. It’s a complete redesign focused on making your cards faster to access, easier to recognize, and more reliable when you need them most.
Whether you’re handing your card to a server at a busy restaurant, pulling it up while travelling, or sharing it with someone ahead of time, the new Equal Eats app is designed to make the experience feel simpler, faster, and more natural.

Built to Feel Like Part of Your Phone
The new Equal Eats app now uses a native design, meaning we rebuilt the experience from the ground up rather than simply updating the previous version.
The result is an app that launches instantly, scrolls smoothly, and feels much more at home on your phone.
Navigation is faster, interactions feel more responsive, and the entire experience has been refined to help you get to your cards with as little friction as possible.

Your Cards, Available Instantly
One of the biggest changes is something you may not immediately notice — and that’s exactly the point.
The new Equal Eats app is now offline-first.
Previously, opening your cards could depend on first connecting to the network. Now, your cards are stored directly on your device so they can open immediately.
That means when you need to communicate your dietary needs, you’re not left waiting for a slow restaurant Wi-Fi connection, weak cell service, or a page to load.
Your cards appear instantly, every time. Any updates happen quietly in the background when a connection is available.
For an app designed to support safer dining and travel, we think that reliability matters.

Color-Coded Cards at a Glance
We’ve also made it easier to quickly identify different types of cards.
Each card category now has its own color and icon, helping you distinguish between:
- Allergy cards
- Intolerance cards
- Celiac cards
- Special diet cards
Instead of reading through every card to find the one you need, you can recognize the right type at a glance.
It’s a small visual change that can make a big difference when you’re trying to communicate quickly.

Small Features That Add Up
Some of our favorite improvements are the little ones — features designed around the real situations where people use Equal Eats.
Waiter Mode
Waiter Mode displays your card across the screen at full brightness, making it easy to hand your phone across the table to a server, chef, or restaurant staff member.
No extra tapping. No distractions. Just your card, clearly displayed.

Find Your Cards With Spotlight
On iOS, your Equal Eats cards can now appear in Spotlight search.
That means you can search for a card directly from your phone instead of opening the app and navigating to it first.
When speed matters, a few fewer taps can make all the difference.

Better Sharing and Printing
Sharing your cards has also received a major upgrade.
Instead of sharing a screenshot, Equal Eats can now generate a sharp, printable PDF of your card.
It’s cleaner, easier to print, and much better suited for sending to restaurants, hotels, schools, tour operators, family members, or anyone else who may need your dietary information ahead of time.

And Plenty More
Beyond the changes you can immediately see, we’ve made many smaller fixes, refinements, and performance improvements throughout the app.
Our goal was simple: make Equal Eats faster, clearer, more dependable, and easier to use in the moments that matter.
This rebuild gives us a stronger foundation for the app today — and for everything we want to build next.
Meet the New Equal Eats App
If you already use Equal Eats, we hope the difference is something you notice the moment you open the app.
And if you’re new to Equal Eats, there’s never been a better time to get started.
Faster access. Smarter cards. Better sharing. A completely rebuilt Equal Eats experience — designed to help you communicate your dietary needs with greater confidence wherever you go.
