Karina Montagni

Hi, I'm Karina, a Chartered Marketer and the Marketing Manager for Equal Eats. I manage the website, helping to improve our online visibility and creating helpful and valuable content that supports you to dine out and travel more safely. I also write our quarterly newsletter, which I particularly enjoy as it allows me to share inspiring travel stories from our community, showing just how much is possible. Connecting with people face-to-face while exhibiting at events is another part of my role I value greatly.

This is truly my dream job. It allows me to combine my marketing expertise with my commitment to supporting the allergy, celiac and free from community. One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is the blend of creativity and strategy. No two days are the same – I move between storytelling, data analysis, keeping up with algorithm changes, and problem-solving. It’s dynamic, challenging, and deeply fulfilling. I also feel incredibly lucky to work alongside a talented and passionate team while engaging with a community I genuinely care about.

My personal connection to food allergies runs deep. When my son was four months old, he was diagnosed with a milk allergy, followed by egg and soya. Today, he lives with multiple food allergies including peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, fish, and shellfish. I bring over 12 years of lived experience navigating life with food allergies, which drives my advocacy and fuels everything I do.

I’m actively involved in the allergy community – raising awareness, supporting charities, and championing allergy-friendly products. I’m proud to be a judge for the Free From Food Awards and a brand ambassador for Vitalite, where I support and celebrate new and innovative allergy-friendly products.

I love traveling. With a Master’s Degree in Tourism, it’s been a lifelong focus of mine. Over the years I’ve lived abroad and explored 26 countries, collecting many special memories from around the world: from retracing my family history in Egypt while standing in awe before The Great Sphinx of Giza, to gazing up at the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy, feeling the mist of the Iguazu Falls in Argentina, watching the sea lions at Pier 39 in San Francisco, strolling across the historic Charles Bridge in Prague, and taking in the dazzling lights and lively energy of the casinos in Las Vegas.

I’m now focused on giving my children the opportunity to explore the world too. So far, we’ve had family holidays in France and Spain, and the next country we are exploring is Denmark.

At home, you’ll usually find me experimenting with allergy-friendly recipes, lifting weights at the gym, running or walking my dog Pepper through the Hertfordshire countryside, and winding down with a good fiction book.
