Meet Sorcha Grace, one of our incredible 2023 Equal Eats Ambassadors.
What are some of your favourite hobbies, interests and activities?
Figure skating, playing guitar, solving Rubik's cubes, ice skating, gymnastics, gaming
What countries have you travelled to?
Spain, Germany, Austria, France
What's your dream travel destination?
Disney World in America
What's your relationship to dietary restrictions? (e.g. you/your child, allergy/celiac)
Allergic to peanuts
What led you to become an Equal Eats ambassador? (why is their mission important to you?)
Because their cards keep me safe and make me feel better when I order food on holiday in another country. I am scared to eat things, but using their cards means I can communicate my peanut allergy in other languages.
What do you find is the most challenging aspect of managing a dietary restriction?
Being at school - parents of non-allergy children simply don't understand and always send their children into school with healthy 'nut' products which are dangerous for me. Also, in restaurants sometimes we are refused service because they label every item with 'may contain'.
What's the one bright side you have found of managing a dietary restriction?
I have learnt responsibility from a very early age (since age 6 when i was diagnosed) so I have learnt how serious my food choices are for my safety, and I had to learn to use an EpiPen - all of these things have made me very responsible.
What's your goal or impact you'd like to achieve being an Equal Eats ambassador?
To educate people across the world about life threatening food allergies, creating awareness, and also helping keep other people safe on holiday by educating them about Equal Eats cards.
